Som en del av årets samarbeid med Cine Latino, en festival med fokus på filmer laget i Latin-Amerika, presenterer Bergen Filmklubb den europeiske premieren av Notes on an Exile. 

Dokumentaren følger en brasiliansk-palestinsk familie på Vestbredden. Opptakene, som opprinnelig ble filmet i 2018, blir gjenopptatt etter hendelsene 7. oktober 2023. Det som skulle vært en film om mulighetene for sameksistens i et okkupert land, blir til en brutal refleksjon over kolonisering, apartheid, folkemord og den nylige spredningen av krigsbilder, produsert av ofrene for en massakre som gjentar seg over tid.

As part of this year’s collaboration with Cine Latino, a festival focusing on films made in Latin America, Bergen Filmklubb presents you with the European premiere of Notes on an Exile. 

The documentary follows a Brazilian-Palestinian family in the West Bank. The footage originally shot in 2018 is revisited again after the events of October 7, 2023. What was supposed to be a film about the possibilities of coexistence in an occupied land turns into a brutal reflection on colonization, apartheid, genocide, and the recent proliferation of images of war, produced by the very victims of a massacre that repeats itself over time.
